Activista Nigeria, a movement of young people passionately working to end poverty through social Justice and affiliated to ActionAid Nigeria held a Continuous voters education rally with the theme VOTERS EDUCATION: A KEY TOOL FOR INCLUSIVE, INFORMED AND CREDIBLE ELECTORAL PARTICIPATION on the 20th of December in Lagos, Nigeria.
The walk was aimed at engaging eligible voting citizens on Voters’ Education, the importance of citizens obtaining thier PVC, shunning all forms of electoral inducements and ensure they carry out thier civic responsibility during the 2023 General Elections.
The sensitization exercise started from Under bridge Ikeja, and the energetic and vibrant Activista members rallied down to Alausa Secretariat with massive interactions and engagement with the public.
We recorded massive positive response from the populace as they were educated, sensitized and informed on the importance and necessity of not just having PVC, but coming out on the election day to cast thier votes. Also, the public were sensitized on how to cast their votes, and what makes their casted vote a valid one.
Furthermore, citizens were sensitized and informed about the various locations (Local Government Areas/Inec Offices) where they could obtain their PVC so as to be eligible to cast their votes come 2023.
The sensitization/voter’s education was a successful exercise in that various commuters and pedestrians commended the efforts of Activista Lagos. Due to this exercise, many citizens dicided to get their PVCs and vote wisely come 2023.
