Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has made a solemn pledge to overhaul the deteriorating state of the 32 general hospitals across the region, which have not seen any renovations for the past two decades.
Speaking at the Government House in Kaduna during a visit by APC stakeholders representing all 23 local government areas to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, Governor Sani highlighted the dire healthcare situation residents face. He lamented that patients are forced to seek medical attention in neighboring states due to the poor conditions of the local hospitals.
The governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to addressing this pressing issue by initiating the renovation, rebuilding, and upgrading of six general hospitals, strategically targeting two hospitals in each of the state’s three senatorial zones.
Expressing his dismay, Governor Sani shared reports from the deputy governor, a renowned public health specialist, indicating the dysfunctional state of most general hospitals in Kaduna. He condemned the situation as unacceptable and stressed the urgent need for investment in healthcare, particularly at the secondary healthcare level.
Governor Sani announced that the ambitious project to revamp the neglected hospitals would commence in the coming days, signaling a new era of healthcare provision in Kaduna State.
“We have to invest in healthcare, particularly at the secondary healthcare level. It is simply because most of these hospitals I mentioned have not been given attention in the last 20 years, and that is the reason they are in their current situation,” Governor Sani declared passionately.
With the launch of this initiative, the people of Kaduna can anticipate improved access to quality healthcare services within their communities, marking a significant step towards revitalizing the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
