Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan has become the first Nigerian to win gold in the history of world Athletics Championships.
She won the 100m hurdle gold at the world athletics championships in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday. Amuson ran a record 12.06 seconds but it was not recognized due to the wind speed. This is even greater than her world record speed of 12.12 seconds in the semi finals.
In the same competition Ese Brume of team Nigeria took the silver medal home in the women’s long jump.
She was second behind Germany’s Malaika Mihambo. Brume jumped a staggering 7.02m and her silver medal is an improvement from the bronze she received last time.
Nigeria had a total of 10 medals in the competition With Amusan getting the only gold. They were also four silvers and 5 bronzes.
Thank you to the Nigerian team for making us proud.
