Press Statement:
TOAN, MOAN remain valid in Lagos, RTEAN members merely licking their wounds
The leadership of Tricycles Owners’ Association of Nigeria (TOAN) and Motorcycles Owners’ Union of Nigeria (MOUN) has described the news of some unscrupulous individuals jubilating over the postponement of a said meeting between the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation and key stakeholders in the transportation sector as laughable.
The jubilation which was reportedly orchestrated by members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) confirms their level of detachment from current realities.
For the records, both TOAN and MOUN are transport unions that are duly recognized by the Lagos State government. The letter of recognition/ approval given to both unions remains valid and authentic.
RTEAN/TODAL and RTEAN/ NNAMORAL members are claiming to have won therefore jubilating a lone battle on the premise that a critical stakeholder meeting expected to hold on Thursday was postponed to a date that would be disclosed later.
If at all RTEAN members in their wildest imaginations felt they won a battle that never held, we challenge them to present their evidence. We know this is just part of a series of scheme to peddle falsehoods and chart an unfounded narrative in order to distract the general public.
This is to clarify to the general public and our members that TOAN and MOUN are still the only union to operate tricycle and motorcycle in Lagos state.
We urge all members of TOAN and MOUN to be calm and continue their works as their is no cause for alarm. We remain the only eligible union to operate tricycle and motorcycle in the state .
