In the early hour of yesterday _2nd October 2024_ The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Wealth Creation and Employment Amb. Tijani Saheed O. attended the On-Boarding Ceremony of the 2024 Lagos State Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP) of 2,500 graduands, which had over 7,000 applicants but 3,000 were selected and 2,500 made it to the On-Boarding Ceremony themed; “Igniting The a Future Of Opportunities and Excellence” hinged on enhancing the employability landscape across the State and provide practical skills and real-world experiences of the Youth of Lagos State.  

This is marking a significant milestone in the Governor Babajide Sanwoolu administration through the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment in a concerted efforts to empower youth,  stimulate economic growth, create wealth and engender a prosperous State that will continue to be a model for other States.

The GIPP program is designed to provide graduates with valuable work experience and skills, enhancing their employability value and contributing to the State’s economic development. 

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat who ably represented the Governor made it known in his speech that this initiative aligns with the Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda commitment to addressing unemployment, empower young people and fostering a thriving business environment.

Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment under the leadership of the tireless Commissioner Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe and the Permanent Secretary Dr. Biodun Onayele are working tirelessly to support the youths of Lagos state in Fostering dialogue oration among stakeholders to address job creation and economic development challenges. 

These programs demonstrate the Ministry’s dedication to creating Employment opportunities, promoting innovation, and supporting the growth of the unemployed graduates in the state.

Dignitaries in attendance at event, include; The Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin (Secretary to the State Government), Sir Ayo Akinyemi (Representative of Hon. Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, SSA on SDGs to the President), Mr. Bode Agoro (Head of Service), Commissioner for Youth and Social Development Hon. Ogunlende Mobolaji, Hon. Ope George (Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget), Hon. Kayode Roberts (Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs), Hon. Gbenga Omotosho (Commissioner for Information), Hon. Sam Ebube (Deputy Chief of Staff), Permanent Secretaries in attendance include, Dr. Biodun Onayemi (Permanent Secretary), and other dignitaries accross all government parastatals.

By attending the GIPP On-Boarding Ceremony, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sanwoolu on Wealth Creation and Employment reaffirms the government’s commitment towards creating wealth empowering youth and stimulating economic growth in Lagos State through effective use strategies and resources by collaborating with all stakeholders and commend the tenacity and work rate of the Commissioner Ajigbotafe and the Permanent Secretary concomitantly in the series of sustainable wealth creation initiatives for Lagos Citizens and Constituents.
