The Libyan Football Federation Vs The Super Eagles Sega

The latest update on the Libyan Football Federation and the Nigerian Football Federation revolves around the controversy surrounding the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Libya.

The Nigerian national team, Super Eagles, has announced a boycott of the match due to “unfair treatment” upon their arrival in Libya. The team was detained for over 12 hours at an abandoned airport, without access to food, drink, or phone connection. This incident occurred after their plane was unexpectedly diverted while descending into the country.

The captain of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, expressed frustration on social media, calling the experience “disgraceful behavior” and demanding an investigation by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has supported the players’ decision to boycott the game, confirming efforts to fly the team back to Nigeria.

In response to the Libyan captain’s claims of poor treatment in Nigeria, the NFF dismissed these allegations, stating that Libya caused its own problems. The NFF also announced the appointment of Delgado Santos Rocha Lenine from Cape Verde as the referee for the match.
