In a tragic turn of events, terrorists have struck Kakangi and Unguwan Matinja communities in Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna State, leaving a trail of death and abduction. Reports indicate that the attack, which occurred in the early hours of May 2nd, 2024, resulted in the deaths of eight vigilant members who bravely defended their communities.
Armed with sophisticated weapons, the terrorists launched a brazen assault aimed at kidnapping residents, including village heads from Kakangi and Kisaya, as well as Christopher Abubakar and Isah Gambo from Ungwan Matinja under Gayam.
Amidst the chaos, the vigilant members valiantly fought back, managing to neutralize some of the attackers. However, the cost of their heroism was high, as eight members tragically lost their lives in the fierce gun battle. Among the fallen heroes were Bala Kamba, Abdurrahman Musa (Ubale), Kabiru Dan Dugui, Hambali Abu, Aliyu Abu, Nura Jika (Maleka), Mubarak Musa (Dan Wamba), and Ikra Hantsi.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace to the affected communities. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the persistent threat posed by terrorism in the region, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures to safeguard innocent lives.
