Rep. Sesi Whingan Trains 50 Youths and Women in Strategic Renewable Energy Skills in Badagry

Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, the House of Representatives member for Badagry, has successfully facilitated the training of 50 youths and women in strategic renewable energy skills. The two-day training program, which began on September 25, 2024, at Vajane Hotels and Suites, Ibereko, Olorunda LCDA, Badagry, was organized by Charoite Stone Limited and sponsored by the National Biotechnology Development Agency.

The 50 participants, comprising both youth and women, received extensive training in basic skills and technical knowledge related to renewable energy

At the closing ceremony today, each participant was awarded a certificate of participation and a cash gift of ₦100,000, intended to support their journey in the renewable energy sector.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Pot-Balogun Sedegla, Chairman of the Sesi Whingan Consiliers, urged the beneficiaries to apply their newly acquired skills effectively and use the financial support from Hon. Sesi to foster growth and independence.

Representing Hon. Whingan at the event, Elder Josuah Avigbe reaffirmed the lawmaker’s dedication to empowering youths and women in Badagry. He emphasized the critical role renewable energy plays in shaping Nigeria’s future and urged participants to seize this opportunity to contribute to the nation’s energy solutions.

Dr. Ope Oke, Chairman of the technical committee for the training, encouraged the participants to remain proactive and innovative, noting that the skills acquired could significantly transform their lives. He advised them to capitalize on this unique opportunity to carve out sustainable careers in the growing renewable energy sector. Miss Bukola Agemo, a member of the technical committee for the MHR, encouraged participants to leverage the opportunities provided by the MHR training program to transform their lives

Hon. Dansu Peter, the Media Head at the office of the MHR, also advised participants to build on the knowledge they had gained, stating that this training offered a pathway to both personal empowerment and community development.

The participants expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Sesi Whingan for offering them this life-changing opportunity. They committed to utilizing the skills and resources gained to become problem-solvers and active contributors to Nigeria’s economy, particularly in these challenging times.
