NIDSUG Calls for Immediate Sack of Sam Ogbuku, MD of NDDC, Over Allegations of Gross Incompetence, Partisan Mismanagement, and Use of Commission funds to sponsor PDP ahead of his governorship interest.
The Niger Delta Students Union Government (NIDSUG) under the leadership of Comr. Idowu Hero Ayemobuwa unequivocally condemns the actions of Mr. Sam Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), calling for his immediate resignation or removal from office. Under his leadership, the NDDC has not only demonstrated gross incompetence, failed programs and projects but also a flagrant misuse of public funds for personal and partisan gain, all while undermining the unity and purpose of the Niger Delta Students Union Government.
Ogbuku’s actions have severely restricted the benefits of the NDDC to his home state, leaving the other states in the Niger Delta to suffer from chronic underdevelopment. His narrow, exclusionary approach to development is not only unethical but contradicts the very purpose of the NDDC, which was established to address the collective needs of all Niger Delta states.
Moreover, Ogbuku’s alleged use of NDDC resources to fund the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in his personal bid for the governorship of his state is a direct violation of his mandate. These actions are tantamount to using public funds for partisan political purposes, further deepening the economic and infrastructural disparity across the region.
In addition to these grave accusations, it has come to our attention that Ogbuku is now employing an impostor to infiltrate and create division within the Niger Delta Students Union Government. This individual has been deliberately spreading false information and attempting to sow discord within our ranks simply because we are challenging Ogbuku’s excesses and incompetence. This underhanded tactic to undermine our union and silence our legitimate calls for justice will not succeed.
The Niger Delta Students Union Government demands:
- Immediate Removal of Sam Ogbuku as Managing Director of the NDDC.
- A Full Investigation into the misuse of NDDC funds for partisan political activities.
- Reforms to Ensure Fair Distribution of NDDC resources across all states in the Niger Delta, with a focus on transparency and equity.
- Full Accountability for any misuse of public funds in the Niger Delta, with appropriate legal action against those responsible.
- End to the Use of Impostors and disruptive tactics aimed at causing division within the Niger Delta Students Union Government.
We stand united in our resolve to hold Sam Ogbuku accountable for his actions, which have endangered the progress of our region and the unity of our student body. We will not tolerate any efforts to use deceit or manipulation to silence our voices.
We call on the federal government, anti-corruption agencies, and the Nigerian people to join us in demanding accountability, fairness, and justice for the Niger Delta. Our region deserves leadership that prioritizes development, integrity, and the collective welfare of its people.
Signed,
Ayemobuwa Idowu Martin (PKA) HERO
National President,
Niger Delta Students Union Government (NIDSUG)
