His Excellency, Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, it is genuine to commend your mega projects and policies in the state and your good-hearted bearing to the people of Ondo state. We wish your remaining tenure a luxuriant of blessings, developments and growths across the length and breadth of the state.
However His Excellency, the Niger Delta Student Union Government(NIDSUG)Ondo State Axis ably led by Comr. Ileromara Elizabeth, is a registered student body in Nigeria which has her phases across the nine (9) Oil Producing States in Nigeria writes to request for the status of the 19.4 billion naira that was paid to Ondo state by the President Buhari led Government as refunds for 13 percent oil derivations which covers between 1999 and 2021.
For years now, there have been no deserving special attention for Niger Delta Students other classes of citizens and the environs in the mandate area of the Niger Delta in Ondo State and these Niger Delta communities landed Ondo state in the rank and files of oil producing states in Nigeria.
It cannot be overemphasised that people of Niger Delta communities in Ondo state have been robbed of basic amenities especially in the provision of electricity, water, roads and lots of basic and social amenities.
The Executives of NIDSUG Ondo state Axis however gives Mr Governor ultimatum of two weeks to account and give the general public the status of the 19.4 billion arrears of 13% oil derivative from 1999 till date. In case of an in-adherent to this, NIDSUG Ondo state Axis will not hesitate to shut down the state with protests and other civil ways of compelling the state government to be accountable and transparent.
Furthermore, NIDSUG shall always contribute her quota to nation building, assisting the government of the day to promote peace and unity in the state. While we agitate for sincere democracy, it is germane, material for the state government to exercise the executive functions in line with the constitutional rights of all.
In conclusion, the need for a progress on the educational front should be prioritized and other fronts that are of symbolic development should be in inclusion to a high degree.
We appreciate our ever listening Governor, Mr talk and do Governor, His Excellency Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu for his brave strides and we hope he will do the needful as expected.
