A delegation of NANS leaders, led by Coordinator Of Southwest, Comr. Taiwo Owolewa, alongside Comr. Asaolu Femi, NANS EKITI JCC Chairman, Comr. Sikiru, Nans Ekiti JCC former chairman, Comr Legacy, Former NANS National DTE and other executives, met with EKSU management to address the 50% increase in freshers fees and staylites.
The Southwest Coordinator pleaded and agitated for a 25% reduction for the freshers fees and total exemption for staylites fees. The Vice Chancellor emphasised and agreed on Staylite fees not to be increased and also promised to consult the council on the 25% reduction for the freshers.
Comr. Owolewa advised exploring internal revenue streams, such as renting school facilities, to avoid making education unaffordable. He emphasized that government Nelfund initiative benefits students, not justifies fee increases.
The Coordinator appreciated the Vice Chancellor fatherly role and looks forward to a positive resolution.
