REPORT OF THE TOWNHALL MEETING WITH THE ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION (EFCC)
National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest, in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), organized a townhall meeting to discuss critical issues related to economic and financial crimes, and their impact on the Nigerian economy and society.
The meeting provided a platform for students, youth leaders, and stakeholders to engage with the EFCC and explore ways to collaborate in the fight against corruption.
The objectives of the townhall meeting were to:
1. Raise awareness about the dangers of economic and financial crimes among students and youth.
2. Provide a platform for students and youth leaders to engage with the EFCC and discuss ways to collaborate in the fight against corruption.
3. Explore strategies for promoting a culture of integrity and transparency among students and youth.
4. Discuss the role of students and youth in preventing and combating economic and financial crimes.
The townhall meeting was attended by:
1. Representatives of the EFCC, led by (Hauwa Garba Ringim) Ag. Zonal Director, Ibadan
2. Students and youth leaders from various tertiary institutions in the Southwest.
3. Representatives of NANS Southwest, led by (Comr. Owolewa Taiwo), Coordinator, NANS Southwest.
4. Other stakeholders, including civil society organizations and community leaders.
The townhall meeting featured presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions. Key discussions centered around:
1. The impact of economic and financial crimes on the Nigerian economy and society.
2. The role of students and youth in preventing and combating economic and financial crimes.
3. Strategies for promoting a culture of integrity and transparency among students and youth.
4. The importance of collaboration between the EFCC, students, and youth in the fight against corruption.
The townhall meeting culminated in the following resolutions:
1. Students and youth leaders pledged to support the EFCC in its efforts to prevent and combat economic and financial crimes.
2. The EFCC committed to providing training and capacity-building programs for students and youth leaders to enhance their understanding of economic and financial crimes.
3. Participants agreed to promote a culture of integrity and transparency among students and youth, through awareness campaigns, advocacy programs, and community engagement.
4. The EFCC and NANS Southwest agreed to establish a collaborative framework to facilitate joint activities, programs, and initiatives aimed at preventing and combating economic and financial crimes.
The townhall meeting with the EFCC was a resounding success, providing a platform for students, youth leaders, and stakeholders to engage with the EFCC and explore ways to collaborate in the fight against corruption. The meeting underscored the importance of collective action in preventing and combating economic and financial crimes, and we look forward to continued collaboration with the EFCC and other stakeholders.
