A daring escape at the high-security Koutoukalé prison near Niamey has resulted in the escape of hundreds of Boko Haram terrorists, criminals, and drug traffickers. The incident occurred when inmates overpowered prison guards, seizing weapons and vehicles to breach the facility’s defenses.
Authorities are investigating how the inmates managed to acquire weapons inside the prison. In response to the breakout, a curfew has been imposed in the Tillabéri region, and the River Niger region has been placed on high alert. Officials are urging the public to report any suspicious activities to assist in the recapture of the escapees.
