Members of the Governing Council and Management of Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) led by the Council Chairman, Mr. Oyewale Raji, on Friday, 12th May 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, at her office on the 6th floor of Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo.
The purpose of the visit, according to Mr. Raji, was to congratulate the Vice Chancellor on her recent successes and to re-establish an existing partnership between LASCOCO and the Lagos State University.
While presenting their mission, the Governing Council Chairman said, “Our maiden visit to the University was in 2021 during which the two institutions resolved to collaborate in as many ways as beneficial but immediately agreed to create two collaboration work streams namely “Work stream on Financial/Administrative Independence” and “Work Stream on Academic Programme”.
However, due to a lull in the activities of the teams, occasioned by the timing of the set up which was close to the end of the last administration, the collaboration did not fully kick-off, a situation which the LASCOCO team was now seeking to reverse.
Mr. Raji, while concluding his statement, thanked the Vice Chancellor for permitting Prof. Danoye Oguntola-Laguda, the Director of the University School of Part Time Programmes, to serve on the Council of the Body.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, mni, in her response, appreciated the delegation and assured of her administration’s willingness to resuscitate the collaboration. She said “…Government is a continnum. We shall continue the collaboration, even in a better way”, she enthused to the delight of the visitors.
The engagement was followed by an exchange of gifts by the leaders of the two organisations and a vote of thanks by the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel A. FANU.
Other members of the University Management and functionaries of the University were also in attendance at the meeting.
