Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi will consider returning to Barcelona in the near future on one condition.
According to El Nacional, Messi will return to Barcelona if Gerard Pique is not at the Blaugrana anymore.
The 34-year-old learnt that Pique had told Barcelona President, Joan Laporta that with Messi’s departure, the club’s finances would improve.
The seven-time Ballon d’ Or winner is said to be annoyed with the Spain defender telling Laporta such a thing, given the two have known each other since the age of 13.
Messi left Barcelona to join PSG on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 after 16 seasons at the Nou Camp.
During his time at Barcelona, Messi scored a record 672 goals in 778 appearances.
The Argentine captain is deemed by many as the greatest footballer of all time.
However, Messi has not been in his best form at PSG and has scored just seven goals and registered 11 assists in 23 games in all competitions for the French Ligue 1 giants so far.
Rumors have started to emerge of Messi potentially returning to the Catalan giants, with the PSG number 30 said to be frustrated with the French media’s portrayal of him.
