Femi Adesina Lauds Buhari’s Legacy, Responds to Tinubu’s Supporters’ : Highlights Improved Security, Economy, and Anti-Corruption Measures
In a recent interview with ThisDay newspaper,
Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, lauded his former boss for leaving Nigeria in a significantly improved state than when he assumed office.
Addressing the question of whether he believed President Buhari had left the nation better than he found it, Adesina remarked, “Far better than he met it.” He emphasized the importance of assessing a leader based on their promises and outlined the three key areas of focus during Buhari’s tenure: security, economy, and anti-corruption, collectively known as SEA.
Highlighting the security situation upon Buhari’s assumption of office in 2015, Adesina recalled the frequent bombings and widespread insecurity that plagued the nation. However, he noted the gradual progress made under Buhari’s leadership in addressing these challenges.
Adesina pointed out a notable decrease in incidents of bombings and violence, particularly during religious holidays, which were previously marred by widespread carnage.
Adesina also emphasized the administration’s efforts to revive the economy and combat corruption, two other pillars of Buhari’s agenda. While acknowledging that there were still areas needing improvement, Adesina maintained that Buhari’s administration made significant strides in these areas during its tenure.
The interview underscores the ongoing debate surrounding President Buhari’s legacy, with supporters like Adesina highlighting achievements in security, economy, and anti-corruption, while critics argue that more needs to be done to address pressing national challenges.
As Nigeria transitions to a new administration, the assessment of Buhari’s legacy will continue to shape political discourse and public opinion in the coming years.
