The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged as the party’s presidential candidate.
Over 2,000 delegates voted at the convention, held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants, including a former Transport Minister, Rotimi Ameachi and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.
With his emergence, Tinubu will battle for the February 25, 2023 presidential election with other parties’ candidates such as Alhaji Atiku of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi from the Labour Party and others.
The gale of stepping down by seven aspirants cleared the coast for the emergence of the former Lagos State governor as the party’s flag bearer for the 2023 presidential election.
