The Forum of Election Observers Groups, an independent monitoring group, accepts the outcome of the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Ogun State. The group which is an accredited forum by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to observe the 2023 general elections gave had her “Presentation of the 2023 Governorship Election Report” yesterday at Ikeja.
One of the discussants, Amb. Olayemi Paul who extensively reiterates his keen observation at the polling units he could observed closely and some others he observed from afar, he carefully highlight some points and also submitted that the election is fair and justified enough. “Although, some parties tried to play the Mechiavellean politics but not successful with it as the INEC are proactive enough to curb it duly” he concluded.
The group coordinator, Comr. Ayodeji Olaogun stated that the results as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the last Governorship and State Assembly elections were consistent with their parallel votes tabulation results estimates. “The March 18 Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, witnessed a significant improvement in the performance of the INEC, and this in no doubt, impacted positively on the eventual outcome of the election”, he added.
The presentations come to an end with the forum encouraging every aggrieved individuals and parties who are not pleased with the election results, to explore the legal opportunities available, to seek redress, rather than admitting any form of action, that seems to undermine democracy, and destabilize the peaceful coexistence among the people.
